As a broodmare, Tee Kay, has become heavily sought after, due to the success of her offspring Symboli Kris S, the two time Japanese Horse of the year, and Pisa No Deilani, an up and coming star in Japan.
The eight year old Symboli Kris S, sired by Kris S, had 8 wins in 14 starts from ages 2 to 4 in Japan, where he was a Champion 3-year old colt and Champion older horse. He won the Arima Kinen-47th Grand Prix, Arima Kinen-Grand Prix, Tenno Sho twice, TV Tokyo Hai Aoba Sho, Kobe Shimbun Hai, finished 2nd in the Tokyo Yushun-Japanese Derby, and 3rd in the Japan Cup [G1] twice. All of his success has resulted in total earnings of $8,401,282 (US). He is now a promising young sire.
Pisa No Deilani, a 3-year old colt by Fusaichi Pegasus, was sold in 2005 to Yoshimi Ichikawa for $1.7 million. He has been making noise in Japan with 2 wins at age 2, and a 2 wins including the Kangetsukyo Stakes (Kyoto) and 2 placings this year at age 3, also in Japan. His earnings have already reached $526,780 (US).
Along with the accolades afforded to her older offspring, Tee Kay’s most recent foals have garnered a lot of attention. Her 2005 filly, Artic Mist, by Seeking the Gold, was sold in 2006 to John Ferguson, on behalf of Princess Haya, for $1.9 million. This year Tee Kay’s dark bay or brown colt (unnamed), by Fusaichi Pegasus, sold privately for $1.15 million to Hajime Satome.
The success of Tee Kay as a broodmare looks to continue, as she is presently has a weanling filly by Giant’s Causeway. Based on the accomplishments of her offspring, this foal looks to be the next, in what may turn out to continue a long line of successes for Tee Kay.
